Punjabi-Canadian rapper Sidhu Moose Wala who died earlier this year at the age of 29, has been trending on social media that too in Pakistan.
Recently, the late singer’s new track ‘Vaar’ was released and it had already crossed 14 million views on YouTube just after its release.
Vaar
Song ‘Vaar’ talks about the story of Hari Singh Nalwa, a legendary Sikh commander. He had once tamed the turbulent forces in Afghanistan and earned the reputation of being the “most feared Sikh warrior” in the 1800s.
Accusation
Many Pakistani especially Muslims accused the song has defamed Prophet Hazrat Mohammad and called out for a ban on song for hurting religious sentiments.
Controversial lyrics
Here are the lyrics which landed song onto heated controversy:
“Afgana De Mana Vich Aidda Dar Siga, Afgana Ne Salwaran Paauniya
Shuru Kar Dittiyan Si, Ke Assi Aurtaan Laggage”
“Ohde Barchhe Muhre Diggde, Ki Muhammad Te Ki Khan Ae
Vairi Foot Foot Pichhe Sitt’da, Jadon Maarda Ik Nishaane”
Word ‘Muhammad’
As per tweets, the Muslim community has questioned the reference to the name ‘Muhammad’ in the newly released song. After that, many bloggers especially Pakistani bloggers tried to explain the concept of the song.
As per the tweets, the late rapper’s song did not defame Hazrat Muhammad but referred to Dost Khan Mohammad who attacked Hari Singh Nalwa’s castle.
Father’s stance
Soon after the controversy, Moose Wala’s father Balkour Singh explained the word ‘Muhammad’ does not refer to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Social media and reaction
Despite many controversies, social media users decided to support Mosse Wala that he had always respected religion no matter what so he would never hurt religions sentiments.

They know our religion better than us. A person like SMW would never do anything to harm our feelings. The people who can’t even respect the name Muhammad are becoming warriors in this matter! Please do your homework before saying any such thing! #SidhuMooseWala pic.twitter.com/5LmEalU6k5

Balkaur Singh Ji there is no need to give special clarification on #SidhuMooseWala’s Dhadi #Vaar if anyone is confused then they must read Sardar Hari Singh ji Nalwa’s #Sikhs history 🙏#Panjab

Some #Muslims are triggered at these lines in #SidhuMooseWala ‘s new song #Vaar. The word “Mohmmad” or “Khan” is not used for your prophet but if you want to keep abusing and crying, stay triggered ⚔️#VaarByLegendMoosewala is fire 🔥#Sikhs #Sikh #Punjab #SidhuMooseWala pic.twitter.com/2VdBzzLj3l
