Pakistan on Wednesday released pace bowler Hasan Ali from its squad ahead of the first T20 International against England in Leeds.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that with senior fast bowler Haris Rauf regaining match fitness, Hasan has been released to fulfill his commitments in English County cricket. Hasan was initially included in an 18-member squad that toured Ireland and is currently in England as cover for Haris, who has been recovering from a groin injury since February.
In his last T20I appearance for Pakistan against Ireland on May 14, Hasan registered figures of 0/42. He has taken 60 wickets in 50 T20 innings for Pakistan, with an economy rate of 8.45.
This decision reduces Pakistan’s squad to 17 players for the T20 World Cup in the United States and West Indies, starting on June 1. Pakistan had earlier named an 18-member squad for the T20I series against Ireland and England, which will be trimmed to 15 for the World Cup, with two additional travelling reserves.
