KARACHI: Haleem Adil Shaikh has been notified as new opposition leader in Sindh Assembly
Sixty-two members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had filed an application to make Haleem Adil Sheikh the Leader of Opposition in the Sindh Assembly. According to details, PTI Karachi President and Member Sindh Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman submitted a request to the Speaker Sindh Assembly to make Haleem Adil Sheikh the Leader of Opposition in the assembly.
The petition had the signatures of 62 members of the Assembly from PTI, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-P. All members of the Assembly have agreed to make Haleem Adil Sheikh the Leader of the Opposition in place of Firdous Shamim Naqvi. Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved the nomination of PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh as Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly.
Moreover, the Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi, who had resigned from his post, was accepted by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Naqvi had expressed displeasure over the decision stating that he has served for over two decades and his loyalties remain with the party.
Sources revealed that Naqvi failed to perform well as the Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, while his controversial statements critical of the party leadership were not welcomed. Several MPAs had also complaints against Naqvi’s harsh attitude towards them.
