LAHORE: Two Lahore police officers are reported to have been arrested after allegedly stealing 60 kilograms of iron from the Pakistan Engineering Company (Peco) factory, police said the other day.
The arrested officers serve at the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Area police station.
According to police, authorities recovered the stolen iron from the two officers. Investigators also registered a case against them under sections related to theft and abuse of authority.
The case follows allegations that the officers took iron from the Peco factory. Police officials said the recovered material would serve as evidence during the investigation.
The Lahore police iron theft case has now been transferred to the Investigation Wing. The wing will examine the allegations and determine the officers’ roles in the incident.
Action Against Arrested Lahore Police Officers
DIG Operations said the department would take action against the officers according to the law. He added that police personnel involved in wrongdoing would face departmental and legal proceedings.
The arrests have raised concerns about accountability within the police force. Authorities are expected to present further details as the investigation progresses.
Officials said the Peco factory iron theft investigation would continue under the relevant legal provisions. The accused officers remain subject to due process.
