A study published in the US National Library of Medicine has stated that drinking green tea can promote human hair growth.
Green tea has been praised for centuries for its many health benefits and it can be the solution to prevent baldness and aid in increasing hair growth. The tea is known to be rich in antioxidants as most of the antioxidants in green tea come from compounds known as flavanols.
The study noted that green tea is a popular beverage worldwide, and its potential beneficial effects such as its anti-cancer. Its antioxidant properties are believed to be mediated by epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which is one of the main components of polyphenols.

Recently, it has been reported that EGCG may be useful in the prevention or treatment of androgenetic alopecia by selectively inhibiting the activity of 5alpha-reductase. The study concluded, “We suggest that EGCG stimulates human hair growth through these dual proliferative and anti-apoptotic effects on DPCs.”
However, it was not only its impressive reduction in serious health ailments that sparked interest in green tea but also its major benefits for one̵s hair. Green tea extracts are used for many other purposes, such as preventing hair loss and improving hair health.
