Govt bans purchase of vehicles for ministries

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has placed a ban on the purchase of all kinds of vehicles and new recruitment in all ministries and divisions in the current year 2019-20 keeping other expenditure at the bare minimum in order to ensure compliance on economic conditions.

According to the Office Memorandum issued by Ministry of Finance, owing to financial constraints, the authority enforced austerity measures during the financial year 2019-20.

According to the memorandum, there will be a complete ban on the purchase of all types of vehicles (excluding motorcycles) for government employees.

It stated that the creation of new posts would be banned except those required for development projects and approved by the competent authority.

Periodicals, magazines, newspapers, etc of entitled officers would remain restricted to only one. Two sides of paper shall be used in all official communications.

Nonetheless, a seven-member committee, headed by additional secretary finance (expenses), has been established to consider the inevitable need for new vehicles and recruitments.

All ministries and divisions are requested to convey the instructions to all departments under their administrative control for strict compliance.
