ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided not to renew the passport of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to Interior Ministry sources, the federal government has decided not to renew his passport. If Nawaz Sharif wants to travel, he has to do so through an emergency travel document, the sources revealed.
Sources said that they would have to approach the Foreign Ministry for obtaining an emergency travel document. Nawaz Sharif has a diplomatic passport and can renew his entry on the recommendation of the Foreign Ministry.
According to sources, Nawaz Sharif’s passport will expire at 12 noon tonight. Earlier, while talking to the media, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had said that Nawaz’s passport will be canceled on 16th February. Sheikh Rashid had said that the manual visa system has been abolished. There were complaints about visas, so they are closing.

Nawaz has been living in London since November last year after he was allowed to leave the country for medical treatment. In November 2020, the PML-N leader has declared a proclaimed offender in two cases — Avenfield properties and Al-Azizia by the Islamabad High Court after he failed to appear before the court.
