LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The JUI-F chief discussed the country’s political situation including long march with the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif who is now in London. The JUI-F chief has been assured of the PML-N’s support to make the long march a success.

They reportedly discussed the political situation in the country, preparations about the long march and upcoming Senate elections. The two leaders also discussed the situation created by the video scandal.

They also agreed to participate in the Senate elections under a comprehensive strategy. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that many had started abandoning the PTI and were joining them.

Yesterday Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that Prime Minister Imran Khan should not redirect the blame for his party workers’ actions to others

The prime minister alleged that Maulana Fazl had made “vast amounts of money” while selling votes during the polls for the upper house of the Parliament.

The allegations came in the backdrop of a leaked video that appears to show PTI members receiving large sums of money ahead of the 2018 Senate elections.

The PDM chief said that corruption had increased in PTI’s tenure and demanding accountability are now growing louder within the party. He said the state institutions should perform their responsibilities in the parameteres of the constitution.

The PDM chief said that the coming days are crucial for the prime minister as the opposition alliance has announced a long march against the government from March 26.
