ISLAMABAD: The Federal government on Monday approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan to challenge bail granted to Shahbaz Gill, Chief of Staff of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Reports suggest that the petition, seeking to cancel the bail granted to Shahbaz Gill by Islamabad High Court, was filed by Islamabad City Magistrate who cited sedition and other similar charges against him.
It may be recalled that the Islamabad High Court on September 15 had granted bail to Shahbaz Gill against Rs. 500,000 surety bonds, paving the way for his release from official captivity.
In his petition, Islamabad City Magistrate prayed that Shahbaz Gill committed sedition and tried to incite mutiny.
Shahbaz Gill was arrested on August 9 following his controversial interview on a private television in which he allegedly discussed Army’s conduct.
