ISLAMABAD: The federal government has introduced strict new regulations regarding foreign and dual nationality of civil servants, making full disclosure mandatory for all public officials, according to an official notification.
Under the newly issued Civil Servants (Disclosure and Regulation of Foreign Nationality) Rules 2026, all government officers are required to disclose complete details of their own foreign citizenship status, as well as that of their spouses and dependent children.
Officials will also be required to provide full information regarding passports and any other foreign affiliations. The rules further state that no civil servant will be allowed to acquire foreign citizenship without prior approval.
According to the notification, failure to disclose foreign nationality will be treated as misconduct. Officials found hiding such information may face departmental action under the new framework.
The rules also state that providing false information or concealing facts may result in termination of employment.
The government said the move is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and regulatory oversight within the civil service structure.
