RAWALPINDI: The sanitation department of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has hundreds of ghost employees working on daily wages, it has been revealed.
Sources informed that Sanitation Department in-charge Waris Bhatti along senior officers are allegedly receiving vast sums over the scam. The ‘daily wagers’ are only on the official records, have attendance, and receive payment but has no real presence.
According to sources, these employees receive a monthly salary of Rs15,000 each, while there are 200 employees in the department. This creates a loss of Rs3 million to the taxpayer’s funds per month.
The number of ghost employees has increased to 400 while no action has been taken against Waris Bhatti against the embezzlement.
Sources informed that similar scandals are life in various departments of the RCB including Taxation Department and Water Board Engineering. No complaints are been made a culture of bribery and exploitation thrives in the organisation.
