George Clooney has shared a recollection of his disaster proposal to Amal Clooney during an interview with fellow actress Drew Barrymore.
The Ocean Elevan’s star is the latest celeb to feature in Drew Barrymore’s talk show ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’.
Drew Barrimore not only wanted to discover Clooney’s professional side but also asked the actor about his personal life together with his wife Amal and George Clooney did share some of his personal anecdotes.
“How did you meet Amal?” the presenter asked.
“I invited some people to my house in Coumo and before she arrived my agent called me and said, ‘there’s a girl coming to your house and she’s going to be the woman you marry’, that’s when I said ‘you’re an idiot. That’s not going to happen,'” Clooney responded.
“We stayed up all night talking and after a few days I decided to write her a letter.
“Eventually we kept talking and when I traveled to London to shoot a movie, I invited her to a classical music concert.”
The actor detailed what transpired, including a playlist of love songs sung by his aunt Rosemary Clooney and dropping down on one knee when the singer started singing “Why shouldn’t I,” calling the whole thing “a disaster.”
The actor said that she had made dinner, the music was on, and the ring was hidden in a little closet behind her.
It was in the middle of dinner when he tricked her by telling her he needed a lighter and that it would probably be inside a box so Amal would find the ring.
“When she opened the box and found the jewel, she thought it was a ring from one of my exes and reluctantly held it out to me while I was on one knee on the floor,” concluded George Clooney who has been married to Amal for eight years and they are the parents of twins.
