After JI’s call of countrywide strike next Saturday, traders across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) have announced a province-wide shutter-down strike on April 26 in solidarity with the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza.
The call for the nationwide strike was issued by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) during a large pro-Palestine rally held on Sunday along the Islamabad Expressway, in protest against Israel’s continued military actions in Gaza.
Mushtaq Ahmed Khalil, Senior Vice President of the Jamiat Business Forum, confirmed the strike and stated that it would cover the entire province, including the capital, Peshawar. He noted that all major trader associations have expressed their full support for the initiative.

A preparatory meeting is scheduled to take place in Peshawar on April 24 to finalize logistical arrangements. Khalil indicated that planning for a peaceful and coordinated strike is already in progress.
He also mentioned that social media is being actively leveraged to amplify calls for a boycott of Israeli goods alongside the planned shutdown.
