KHANEWAL: At least four people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a truck and ambulance in Khanewal on Saturday.
Rescue sources said a fast-moving ambulance collided with a truck near M-4 Motorway. As a result, four people were killed on the spot, while three others sustained severe injuries.
According to police, all of the deceased persons and two of the injured belonged to the same family, who were taking the body of a relative from Multan to their native city Mansehra.
Police said that the accident took place due to over speeding of the ambulance. Police has registered a case against the driver of the ambulance, who is seriously injured.
The bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Khanewal for autopsies and treatment, respectively.
The hospital officials feared that the death toll might further rise because all of the injured are in critical condition, sources said.
Earlier, four members of a family were killed and four others sustained severe injuries in a road accident on the Indus Highway near Kashmore.
According to SSP Kashmore Asar Raza, a fast-moving truck hit an auto-rickshaw on the Indus Highway near Kashmore. As a result, three people of a family were killed on the spot, while four other people sustained severe injuries.
The deceased were identified as Fazl-ur-Rehman Sheikh, Baghan, Raza Muhammad and Zahra.
