RAWALPINDI: Four army personnel were martyred and seven terrorists were killed on Wednesday during an operation on a militant hideout near Datta Khel in North Waziristan.
According to Inter-Sevices Public Relations (ISPR), security forces were conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Mama Ziarat after receiving confirmed reports of a militant hideout in the area.
An exchange of fire took place between the troops, who had cordoned the area, and the terrorists, who were trying to escape from the hideout. As a result, a lieutenant, lance havaldar, and two sepoys were martyred while seven terrorists were killed in the exchange of gunfire.
Those martyred include 26-year-old Lt Agha Muqadas Ali Khan who was a resident of Lahore, and 36-year-old Lance Havaldar Qamar Nadeem, who was a resident of Layyah. Two sepoys Muhammad Qasim, aged 24, and Touseef, aged 23, residents of Layyah and Narowal respectively were also martyred.
According to the military’s media wing, one soldier was also injured in the operation. The armed forces recovered a large cache of weapons, improvised explosive devices and ammunition from the hideout during clearance.
On Tuesday, a sepoy was martyred as Indian troops resorted to unprovoked fire in Shahkot sector along Line of Control with heavy weapons. Pakistan Army responded effectively targeting Indian posts which initiated fire and inflicted heavy losses.
During the exchange of fire, sepoy Wajid Ali, aged 20 years, resident of district Dadu in Sindh, valiantly responded to the ceasefire violation and embraced martyrdom.
