CAIRO: Former Libyan Prime Minister Dr. Mahmoud Jibril has died in Egypt as a result of being infected with the Coronavirus.
A 68-year-old Dr. Mahmoud Jibril was diagnosed with the coronavirus on 26th March. Two days ago, he was rushed to hospital due to his worsening condition.
Born in 1952, Mahmoud Jibril held membership in the National Transitional Council after the overthrow of the regime of the late Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi since March 2011.
He assumed the position of Secretary of the National Planning Council and Director of the Economic Development Board during the era of Muammar Gaddafi, and after the 2011 revolution, he created the National Forces Alliance Political Party.
Jibril had made great efforts to persuade Western countries to recognize the council as a legitimate representative of the Libyan people.
