Retired senior judge and former Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has died at the age of 92.
According to details, former caretaker prime minister Mir Hazar Khan had been undergoing treatment in Quetta for some time. His funeral prayers will be offered today at 12 noon in Katpar Sharif, Balochistan.
Mir Hazar Khan is considered to be an important political and social figure of Balochistan who was born in Goth Azam Khan village in the Jaffarabad district of Balochistan Province on 30th September 1929.
He graduated from Sindh University in 1954 and also obtained a law degree from Karachi University and achieved prominence due to his simple nature. Mir Hazar Khan Khoso started his career as a lawyer in 1957 and became a lawyer in the Supreme Court in 1980 while in 1977 he became a judge of the Balochistan High Court.
Later, in 1989, Khan became the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court and twice served as the caretaker Governor of Balochistan for a short period and resigned from the post on July 13, 1991. Mir Hazar Khan Khoso later became a judge of the Federal Shariah Court and became Chief Justice in 1991. Due to his great honesty, he was also appointed as the Chairman of the Zakat Council.

After a long absence from politics, the Election Commission appointed him as the 18th Prime Minister of Pakistan on March 24, 2013. This is the second tragedy of the death of a prominent political figure of the country during June this year. Former Senator Usman Kakar, who passed away recently, also belonged to Balochistan.
It may be recalled that earlier well-known political leader and former Senator Usman Kakar had died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Karachi. He was transferred from Balochistan to Karachi in an unconscious state and was undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi.
