WASHINGTON: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has met US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy John Charles Rood to discuss defense cooperation between both countries.
The foreign minister in a tweet announced his meeting with Rood, where they both discussed the overall regional security situation.

On the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that defense and security cooperation between Pakistan and the US were an important part of bilateral relations.
Qureshi further stated that tensions in the Middle East could pose great risks to the entire region.
Qureshi added that Pakistan has decided to utilize its diplomatic sources and peace efforts to reduce tensions.
FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi also appraised the US Under Secretary regarding his current visit to Iran and Saudi Arabia.
FM Qureshi also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to play a vibrant and positive role to reduce the tensions between Iran and the United States and for maintaining peace in the region.
Earlier the foreign minister met US Senator Lindsey Graham in Washington and expressed that it was always a pleasure to connect with US Senator. Qureshi in a twitter wrote that Lindsey Graham had always continued to fortify Pakistan.
Qureshi also repeated Pakistan’s firm commitment to playing a positive role for peace and stability in the region.
He praised Graham about Pakistan’s efforts for reducing tensions in the region. The two sides exchanged views on Pak-US bilateral issues and situations in the region during the meeting.
