ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested two men on charges of embezzling Rs22 million through bogus receipts.
The accused identified as Zawar-ul-Hassan and Muhammad Faheem were employees of Pakistan Post in Feroza, Rahim Yar Khan. They had allegedly misappropriated funds amounting to Rs22 million with fake entries of electricity bills and fake deposits in the ledgers of the post office.
There were several complains against them but higher officials of the Pakistan Post did not take action. However, the FIA received a complaint and conducted a raid at their office in Rahim Yar Khan and arrested them.
During the probe of the scam, FIA has already recovered Rs3.5 million and deposited the amount in the government exchequer. A case had been lodged and further investigation is underway to apprehend others who may be involved.
