KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz is expected to arrive in Karachi tomorrow to attend the second political gathering of the Pakistan Democratic Movement.
Maryam Nawaz is expected to reach Karachi on Saturday at noon and will pay a visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She will attend the political rally organised by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) at Bagh-e-Jinnah.
Senior leaders of the PML-N, national and provincial lawmakers and political leaders are expected to attend the event. Maryam will address the political gathering along with PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The 11-party PDM has vowed to dislodge the government inside weeks during an impressive show of strength in Gujranwala on Friday. PDM leaders declared the first public meeting of the opposition protest campaign as a public referendum against the government.
The rally was addressed by the PDM leaders including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam Nawaz, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Mahmood Achakzai. A large number of people arrived at the jam-packed Jinnah Ground to attend the event which has set the tone for the opposition’s campaign.
Addressing the rally, Maryam Nawaz took Prime Minister Imran Khan to task over his policies. The PML-N leader said Imran Khan has said she would not be given NRO. “Imran Niazi, you want to go on your own or the people throw you out. Now you will not get shelter in any shelter house,” she remarked.
She said the Sharif family was called a Sicilian mafia but in actual those who made profits on sugar and flour were the real mafia. She said Imran Khan has imposed curbs on media and once it would be free, his corruption scandals would be revealed. She said the public mandate must be respected.
