KARACHI: A delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by the Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Sunday visited the office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).
Both parties discussed the ongoing political situation in the country and deliberated upon the strategy for the upcoming Senate elections. Federal Minister for Finance Hafeez Shaikh and Minister for Privatization Mohammed Mian Soomro were also present.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Asad Umar said elections are not just between two candidates but their parties as well. He said they discussed several with the MQM and want to take them onboard. He said PTI is making efforts to ensure that Senate elections are held in a transparent manner.
MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari said they discussed votes regarding Senate polls with the government delegation. He said that reservations on the census results were also raised in the meeting.
Sabzwari said that the talks with the government delegation were held in a conducive environment and the written agreements between both the parties were reviewed.
Earlier, Federal Ministers Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Asad Umar and Mohammed Mian Soomro called on Sindh Governor Imran Ismail at Sindh Governor House.
According to a Governor’s House statement, they discussed in detail on the ongoing federally-funded projects including Karachi Transformation Plan and other matters.
Sindh Governor said the development schemes will be undertaken in the province without any discrimination. He said the prime minister is ensuring steps for the development of Karachi.
