Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that clerics are a danger to society, claiming that children, women and minorities are often the easiest targets for coercion and exploitation.
In a post on X, he referred to a speech by Maulana Fazlur Rehman in which, according to Chaudhry, children were threatened in connection with violating a law.

He said the remarks were further evidence of what he described as a dangerous mindset.
Fawad Chaudhry added that every conscious and responsible individual must stand against what he termed a tribal interpretation of Islam and reject such thinking outright. He said child marriage poses a serious threat to society and must be condemned.
