Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has raised concerns about the authenticity of the evidence presented in the May 9 case, stating that it relies solely on the testimonies of three police constables, as reported by national media.
In an interview on ARY News’ “Off The Record,” Chaudhry pointed out that the government’s entire case is based exclusively on the statements of these three constables. He argued that the indictment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership is unfounded.
Chaudhry criticized the government’s narrative, which hinges on the testimony of three police officers who claim to have been covertly present at the Zaman Park meeting, where PTI founder Imran Khan allegedly ordered an assault on military installations.
He expressed doubts about the reliability of the evidence, questioning how these officers could have been unnoticed, suggesting they may have been cloaked in invisibility. Chaudhry denied any involvement of PTI leadership, including Imran Khan, in the events of May 9.
In related news, the Supreme Court (SC) recently raised questions regarding the ‘security lapse’ during the May 9 incidents while hearing intra-court appeals challenging the trial of civilians in military courts. The bench, led by Justice Aminuddin Khan, included Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Musarrat Hilali, and Shahid Bilal Hassan.
