RANIPUR: A court granted three-day physical remand of the prime accused in the murder of a minor domestic worker Fatima Fariro who was brutally tortured and sexually assaulted.
Accused Pir Syed Asad Shah, a member of the influential Pir of Ranipur family, appeared in court. The mother of the victim girl was present in the court.
Police informed the court that the accused is not cooperating with the inquiry which is affecting the investigation. Police said a mobile phone has been recovered from the accused’s possession but is not providing its PIN code.
Police said another mobile phone is to be recovered from the accused’s possession. “If you cooperate, justice will be done to you,” the judge told the suspect.
The Investigation Officer said mobile phones recovered from accused Asad Shah have a security PIN code attached to them. He complained that the accused Asad Shah is not ready to tell the security PIN code of the mobile phone.
The officer said accused Asad Shah is not cooperating in the investigation and is affecting a transparent inquiry. “If you are innocent, tell the police the pin code on the mobile,” the judge told the accused.
Police said the DNA test reports of the accused have not been received yet. He said DNA samples have been sent to Punjab Laboratory for forensics but the report has not been received.
The accused was handed over to the police on a three-day physical remand. He was transferred to Hingorja police station under tight security.
