Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal in the early overs became a major talking point during the Asia Cup Super Four match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday.
The much-anticipated showdown between the traditional rivals is being played as part of the Super Four stage of the tournament. While the previous match sparked controversy when Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistani cricketers, today, another dispute arose — this time involving Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal.
In the third over, Hardik Pandya bowled a delivery that Fakhar attempted to steer. The ball took a faint edge and went to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who claimed the catch.
The umpires referred the decision to the third umpire. The replays were inconclusive, showing the ball very close to the turf, raising doubts about whether it truly carried the edge.
In the zoomed-in replay, the ball clearly appeared to bounce off the ground before reaching the wicketkeeper’s gloves. Despite this, the third umpire gave Fakhar Zaman out.
Fakhar was not out that’s the tweet.

Fakhar showed visible disbelief and shook his head. Former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir also reacted on Twitter, stating clearly:
“Fakhar Zaman was not out.”
Meanwhile, social media users were quick to criticize the decision, calling it controversial and unjust. Many pointed out that the replays clearly showed the ball hitting the ground first, yet Fakhar was still declared out.
