Pakistani television personality Fakhar-e-Alam has shared details about his recent Hajj pilgrimage alongside former cricketers Wasim Akram and Misbah-ul-Haq, addressing public curiosity over their decision not to shave their heads during the ritual.
In a video statement, Fakhar-e-Alam said the trio consulted several religious scholars before performing Hajj and were advised that pilgrims have two options after completing the pilgrimage rites — either to shave their heads or shorten their hair.
He noted that while shaving the head carries greater reward, shortening the hair is also an acceptable way to complete the obligation.
Responding to criticism circulating on social media, Fakhar-e-Alam said people had questioned whether they had gone to Hajj for leisure. He clarified that the pilgrimage involves a full schedule of 24-hour spiritual experience, including continuous acts of worship as well as moments of rest and interaction among pilgrims.
“Sometimes you are engaged in prayers, sometimes you feel emotional, and sometimes you are simply interacting with fellow pilgrims,” he said, describing the human and communal aspect of the pilgrimage.
He added that Hajj is also about unity and togetherness among Muslims, where people from different backgrounds come together, live collectively, and strengthen their bonds.
The remarks come after the trio’s Hajj photos and videos circulated online, sparking discussion and debate on social media platforms.
