Exports in February increases by 13.6 percent: Hammad Azhar

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar has said that the country’s exports have been increased by 13.6 percent in the month of February.
Hammad Azhar took to Twitter today (Monday) and said, “Year on year exports in the month of February has increased by 13.6 percent,” adding that imports have been declined by four percent.
He further said, “Pakistan exports are growing at a time when many developing countries including in our region, are witnessing negative growth.”

In another tweet, he said that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate in Pakistan has witnessed highest deceleration in a single month for some time, adding that it has come down from 14.6 percent in January to 12.4 percent in February.

He further tweeted that the essential food items that decreased in February over January are onion by 8.8 percent, tomato 60.3 percent, potato 12.9 percent, fresh vegetables 11.5 percent and wheat flour by 5.3 percent.
The Minister said that on non-food side major contributions for decrease came from LPG by 13.5 percent and electricity 13.5 percent.
