Netflix kicks off 2025 with its annual tradition of adapting a gripping Harlan Coben thriller, this time with “Missing You”, a five-part series based on the author’s 2014 New York Times bestseller.
The series stars Rosalind Eleazar as Detective Inspector Kat Donovan, a police officer dedicated to finding missing people—except for the fiancé who disappeared from her life 11 years ago. When Kat stumbles across the dating profile of her ex-fiancé Josh (played by Ashley Walters), the past resurfaces with devastating force.
His unexpected reappearance coincides with the rekindling of the mystery surrounding her father’s murder, drawing Kat into a perilous quest for answers.
Missing You boasts a predominantly Black ensemble cast, including Jessica Plummer, Lenny Henry, and Jo Martin, adding rich cultural layers to the story.
The show pays close attention to detail, from the authenticity of Kat’s waterlogged curls in the rain to a “Candy” dance sequence—a staple of Black family gatherings.
Created by Harlan Coben and also starring Richard Armitage, Missing You offers a complex web of suspense, emotion, and outstanding performances, making it another must-watch thriller in Netflix’s lineup.
“Missing You” release date
Missing You launches worldwide on Netflix on January 1, 2025.
