BRUSSELS: The European Parliament has passed a resolution condemning ethnic and religious violence and human rights violations against minorities in India.
According to the international news organization, the resolution of the European Parliament also expressed the determination that India will continue to raise its voice against restrictions on freedom of expression and religious freedom.
The resolution called on European governments and the international community to link all areas of trade and partnership between the EU and India to the provision of human rights and to conduct independent investigations into human rights violations in India.

The European Parliament also demanded the Indian government stop religious and ethnic violence against minorities and provide them full protection at the state level.
The resolution also said that government policies such as media ban and caste-based constitution had led to the recent communal riots in the state of Manipur, which were very worrisome.
It should be remembered that more than 100 people were killed in the ethnic riots in the Indian state of Manipur and more than 10,000 people had to move to safe places while the houses of two BJP ministers were also burnt.
