ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit Mianwali today to lay the foundation stone of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant aka C-5 nuclear power project that will generate 1200 megawatts of electricity.
Last month, Pakistan and China signed an MoU on Chashma Five Nuclear Power Project in Islamabad on the 20th of last month.
On this occasion, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that Chashma Five Nuclear Power Project is an important step towards economic cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier on June 20, the prime minister said that a decision has been taken to start this project. It was agreed upon. However, the incoming government put the project in cold storage.
Due to the high rate of inflation at the global level, the project will now cost much more than the estimated cost in 2017-18, but the Chinese government, with the efforts of PM Shehbaz Sharif, not only avoided increasing the cost but also about 30 billion rupees.
Expressing his determination to start the C-5 nuclear power project without delay, the Prime Minister said that in the difficult economic situation, China’s investment of 3.48 billion dollars in this project has sent a clear message that Pakistan is a place where Chinese companies And investors continue to show their confidence.
It should be noted that K3 Nuclear Power Plant in Karachi was also inaugurated by Shehbaz Sharif a few months ago. This nuclear power plant has also been built with the help of China. Now today he is going to lay the foundation stone of the C-5 nuclear power plant in Mianwali.
