The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has issued a decision on K-Electric’s multi-year tariff review applications for the financial year 2024 to 2030.
According to a K-Electric spokesperson, Nepra has decided to reduce the average electricity tariff per unit from Rs 39.97 to Rs 32.37.
Nepra’s decision will apply to K-Electric’s generation, transmission, distribution and supply businesses. A K-Electric spokesperson said that Nepra has upheld its previous decision regarding the right of claims.
The spokesperson added that in other matters, the significant changes made by Nepra are unsustainable for the company and will have far-reaching effects on all stakeholders, especially consumers.
K-Electric has confirmed that it is reviewing Nepra’s decision in detail, and the company will take all legal avenues to protect its rights and interests.
The decision is promising for consumers, as it is expected to result in a reduction in bills for domestic and industrial customers; however, according to K-Electric, legal challenges may continue.
