KARACHI: After the recent spell on heavy rainfall, the K-Electric on Monday claimed that electricity has been restored in 95 percent areas of Karachi.
Spokesman of K-Electric, Noor Afshan, said in a statement that due to the accumulation of water in the city, there were difficulties in restoring power in some areas and the residents of the area were informed in advance.
She said that more than 50 percent of water had entered the substations of the K-Electric but they were in touch with the concerned agencies for drainage of water from the substations. Water also entered the basements of houses during the rain.
Three days of continuous rain in different areas of the city affected the power supply of the Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gadap Town, Bin Qasim and some areas of Clifton.
Protests were also held in some areas of the city due to power outages. The daily life of the citizens of Karachi is badly affected due to a lack of electricity supply. It may be noted that the three days of monsoon rains have killed 90 people and damaged about a thousand homes across the country.
