ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed in the Election Commission for the removal of caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and the cabinet members.
The petition was filed by lawyer Syed Waziruddin Kakakhel. In the petition, Advisor Ahad Cheema, Fawad Hasan Fawad and Principal Secretary Syed Tauqeer Hussain have also been requested to be removed from their posts.
In the application, it has been stated that the four persons have been part of the previous government and can influence the upcoming elections.
The petitioner stated, “If the caretaker government wants a transparent election, then these persons should be removed from their positions immediately.”
Kakar was nominated to serve as Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan by the outgoing opposition leader and the outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The president Arif Alvi signed on the summary making him the 8th Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan.
He took oath on the 76th independence day of Pakistan, 14 August 2023. He resigned from the Senate on 14 August 2023 and on the same day, his resignation was accepted by the Chairman of the Senate Sadiq Sanjrani.
