A video of a drunk passenger creating ruckus on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Islamabad has gone viral on social media. The footage depicts cabin crew members restraining the unruly individual, who attempted to assault a crew member.
Upon the flight’s arrival at Islamabad International Airport, authorities apprehended the passenger without any reported injuries among passengers or crew. The flight, identified as EK614, operated by Emirates, departed from Dubai International Airport on February 24, 2024, using one of the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft registered as A6-ENI.
In the video, several Emirates cabin crew members swiftly intervened as the intoxicated passenger tried to assault one of them. With coordinated efforts, the crew managed to subdue the individual using handcuffs provided by another crew member.
Upon landing in Islamabad on February 25, 2024, at approximately 20:21 local time, the disruptive passenger was escorted off the aircraft in a wheelchair while still restrained. Despite attempts to calm him down and provide hydration, the individual continued to exhibit disruptive behavior, as per local reports. However, there are concerns raised in the same reports suggesting that the passenger might have influential connections in Pakistan, potentially affecting any legal repercussions for his actions.
Emirates has issued a formal statement regarding the incident.
“Emirates can confirm that there was an unruly passenger on flight EK614 travelling from Dubai to Islamabad on 24 February,” an Emirates spokesperson said in an emailed statement to AeroTime. ‘The passenger was restrained by cabin crew and upon arrival, was handed over to the authorities. The safety of our passengers and crew is of critical importance and Emirates strives to ensure this is never compromised. Emirates is cooperating with the authorities at this time and cannot comment further.”
