The price of blood pressure medication has moved up by Rs12, diabetes medication by Rs30 and anti-acidity syrups by Rs46. Calcium supplements will cost five rupees more and painkillers an additional two rupees.
Earlier, addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Health Minister Aamir Mehmood Kiani said that the increase in the prices of some medicines was issued keeping in view the increasing parity in dollar-rupee prices.
He added it was necessary to increase such prices to ensure the availability of life-saving drugs in the country and to avoid any gap in demand and supply.
