KARACHI: Pakistani actor Fahad Mustafa expressed that the primary aim of a TV drama has always been entertainment with a possible moral lesson.
During a recent interview with a private news channel, the Jawaani Phir Nahi Aani star shared that everyone sees his dramas because what is not seen is not discussed. He says, “Everyone saw and liked the Nand and Jalan dramas. At the moment, they enjoy producing more than acting in TV dramas.” He added, “It would be wrong not to act on TV if I was not doing anything.”
He went on to say that not every play can teach people. “We can’t teach people with every drama, but we try to do as much as we can. According to Mustafa, TV is now a business as well as entertainment. “We cannot always persuade people to do specific things or not,” he said.
As a producer, Mustafa expressed that the title of a TV drama has a lot to do with its popularity such as Bala, Cheekh, Nand, and Jalan. “If the name of drama Nand had been something else, it probably would not have happened.
Speaking about the criticism on the storyline of dramas, Mustafa maintained that people should have some patience. “If the audience has to make a decision, do it after the story is over, not in the middle.”

“Like it or not, people are watching dramas and it is being watched not only in Pakistan but also globally. Not only do these dramas go on-trend, but people also enjoy them,” the actor shared.
Besides criticism, Mustafa expressed isn’t it time to end the ban on drama? He stressed over the authorities for routinely banning certain types of programs. “Our dramas ask people questions they probably don’t want to hear, and you always flinch or run around saying you’re wrong, maybe that’s why our dramas are banned and removed,” he said.
