Former Governor of State Bank Dr Shamshad Akhtar died in Karachi on Saturday.
According to reports, Dr Shamshad Akhtar passed away due to cardiac arrest.
She was serving as the chairperson of the Stock Exchange and SSGC and had carried out her official duties at the Stock Exchange as recently as Friday.

Her funeral prayers will be offered tomorrow, Sunday, after Zuhr.
Dr Akhtar was a distinguished economist, diplomat, and central banker who has held several high-ranking positions both nationally and internationally.
In March 2024, she was awarded the Nishan-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian honor, for her outstanding public service
