Fawad Chaudhry said that once again the civil and military leadership have proved that all institutions are united and equal for the stability, integrity, and development of the country. Consultations on the new DG ISI were completed.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan has very good relations with the military and civilian leadership, while the authority in the appointment of DG ISI is the prime minister.
The minister said that PM Imran Khan had taken the cabinet into confidence on the issue of DG ISI. He said the premier assured the cabinet members that all the relevant people are on the same page and that the appointment of DG ISI would be finalised soon amicably. The premier regretted attempts were made to give a wrong spin to the issue.
He said that all legal and constitutional prerequisites would be fulfilled in the appointment of DG ISI, though he avoided elaborating the ‘legal and constitutional’ method for an appointment. Fawad said, “A long meeting took place between PM Imran Khan and the army chief last night,” adding that the government shares an ideal relationship with the military.
