MUMBAI: Famous Indian film actress and producer, Deepika Padukone has highlighted the difference between feelings of sadness and a depressive episode.
Mental health and its importance resurfaced on the radar of Bollywood’s top actor after the reported suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput. In ongoing discussions on mental health, Deepika made an effort to educate the masses on the difference between sadness and depression.
On a social media website Twitter, Padukone wrote, “Repeat after Me. Depression is not the same as sadness. Repeat after Me. Feeling depressed is not the same as feeling sad.”
Right after news of Rajput’s demise broke on social media, Deepika also shared a heartfelt message with her followers. “As a person who has had a lived experience with mental illness, I cannot stress enough about the importance of reaching out,” she wrote.
“Talk. Communicate. Express. Seek help. Remember, you are not alone. We are in this together. And most importantly, there is hope,” she added.
