ISLAMABAD: The 11th death anniversary of Air Commodore Muhammad Mahmood Alam, the famous national hero of the country, who is famously known as MM Alam, is being observed today.
According to the details, MM Alam is considered a national hero for Pakistan, most significantly, for his remarkable show of brilliance in the 1965 Pak-India war when he was posted at Sargodha.
During this war, he was involved in various dogfights while flying his F-86 Sabre fighter. He downed nine Indian Hawker Hunter fighters in the aerial fighting, and damaged two others.
With the full support of the nation, MM Alam made history and crushed the enemy who had a huge numerical superiority on the battlefield. In the war of 1965, MM Alam destroyed 5 enemy fighter planes in less than 1 minute.
It was this achievement that got MM Alam’s name in the Guinness Book of World Records. The enemy had fighter jets against MM Alam’s Sabre fighter 86, whose capabilities are considered superior to the Saber 86 in all respects, but MM Alam lost its technological superiority.
Defense experts say that MM Alam destroyed 9 enemy planes in total. Pakistan Army won a victory over the enemy in the 1965 war with national heroes like MM Alam and people’s enthusiasm as well as faith. MM Alam passed away on March 18, 2013.
