In a shocking incident that highlights the deteriorating law and order situation, unidentified dacoits looted an ambulance providing free medical services on humanitarian grounds near Indus Highway in Dadu district on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident occurred in Phulji village, where armed bandits intercepted the ambulance and robbed its driver, identified as Mansoor Chandio, of his mobile phone and cash.
Sajjad Panhwar, in-charge of the ambulance service, said the vehicle was operated by Makhdoom Bilawal Welfare Association, an NGO offering health services to underserved communities in the region.
“After robbing the driver, the dacoits also took away a vital oxygen cylinder and other medical equipment used for first aid and patient care,” Panhwar stated, adding that the ambulance was returning from Mehar at the time of the incident.
He condemned the attack on a life-saving service and appealed to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dadu to take immediate notice of the matter. He urged authorities to apprehend the culprits and ensure they receive exemplary punishment for this inhumane act.
