Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stated that the Pakistan women’s team will not travel to India for the Women’s World Cup. Once an agreement is finalized, it will be binding. Now, it’s up to India to decide on a neutral venue.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Naqvi said “when the team plays as a team, it will get similar results, it is for every team that they play as one, then similar results will come, women cricketers will definitely get a reward, this is their right, India is the host, they will decide where to play, small changes were made in the women’s team, then they came on a track.”
The PCB Chairman said that future decisions will be made regarding the national team, Aqib Javed was made interim coach.
It may be recalled that the Pakistan women’s cricket team has qualified for this year’s Women’s Cricket World Cup in India by defeating Thailand for the fourth consecutive time.
In the crucial match played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan defeated Thailand by 87 runs, after which the Green Shirts secured their place for the World Cup. Earlier, Pakistan had also defeated Ireland, Scotland and the West Indies.
Eight teams are participating in the Women’s World Cup, in which hosts India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka have already qualified. Pakistan has now joined as the seventh team. A tight competition is going on between Bangladesh, Scotland and the West Indies for the eighth and final spot. This 50-over global event will be held later this year.
