KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has urged fishermen to avoid going into the deep sea today due to the cyclonic storm ‘Maha’.
The PMD stated, “Currently, there is no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas. However, fishermen are advised to remain careful and avoid going into deep sea from Monday.”
Maha is reportedly located at a distance of about 770 km south-southwest of Karachi.

It was tracked around the east-central Arabian Sea during last 12 hours.
The Cyclone Maha has maximum sustained surface winds of 180-200 kmph.
Due to Maha, Pakistan’s coastal area is expected to experience gusty winds and moderate showers.

It is likely to track further west or northwestwards during the next 24 hours and then re-curve in east-northeast direction towards Indian Gujarat.
Storm Maha is likely to make landfall along the Gujarat coast in India on the night of 6th November.
