CTD arrests most wanted terrorist in Karachi

KARACHI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a raid and arrested a trained terrorist belonging to a proscribed organisation.

The law enforcement agency conducted a joint raid with an intelligence agency and arrested the suspect Abbas Jafri in Khuda ki Basti area of Surjani Town and confiscated a weapon from his possession.

CTD claimed that the terrorist belongs to a banned organisation Zainabiyoun Brigade and was included in the ‘Red Book’ compiled by the government. According to CTD, Abbas Jafri is a close aide of another most-wanted terrorist Yawar Abbas whose name is also included in the ‘Red Book’.

The spokesperson said that Abbas Jafri had received training from a neighbouring country in 2014 where he was taught medical aid, intelligence surveillance and making automatic weapons

Abbas Jafri was allegedly involved in conducting recee for terrorists to carry out different activities in Karachi. He also brainwashed youth and sent them to receive militant training in a neighbouring country.

The CTD spokesperson added that the institution formed teams to arrest accomplices of the arrested terrorist. He has been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation while legal action will be taken against him.
