ISLAMABAD: Special Judge Central FIA Waqar-ul-Hassan on Monday approved interim bail for renowned dermatologist Dr. Fazeela Abbasi in the illegal clinic case until April 15, against surety bonds of Rs.50,000.
Dr. Abbasi, a well-known figure in Pakistan’s dermatology and aesthetic medicine circles, has been practicing since the early 2000s with a clinic in Islamabad. She trained at the prestigious St. John’s Institute of Dermatology, King’s College London, and holds an MD in Dermatology. Widely credited with pioneering advanced laser treatments in Pakistan, she has also practiced in Dubai and gained public visibility through television appearances and social media content promoting skincare.
The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle registered a case (FIR No. 111-2025) against her for allegedly operating an unlicensed clinic in a residential area of Sector F-8/1, Islamabad.
The allegations include running a healthcare facility without registration from the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA), violating building by-laws by conducting commercial medical activities in a residential zone, and possible collusion with officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and health department. Investigators also accused her of using counterfeit medicines and attempting to destroy evidence during an FIA raid.
It may be noted that this case is separate from the high-profile money laundering investigation against Dr. Abbasi, which involves allegations of suspicious transactions worth over Rs2.5 billion across multiple bank accounts, undeclared income, and illegal fund transfers abroad through hundi/hawala channels.
The court has directed her to cooperate with investigators while her interim bail remains in effect until April 15.
