SINDH: All the steps taken by the provincial government were thwarted as coronavirus has wreaked havoc in Sindh’s badly affected Dadu and Sehwan districts with 70 percent of patients coming on a daily basis in the hospitals.
Sources said the situation in Sindh is getting out of control with each passing day as 70% of the patients brought in Dadu and Sehwan hospitals are being diagnosed with COVID-19. Sources further said that the 32-bed Corona ward at the Civil Hospital in Dadu has been completely filled and there is a severe shortage of oxygen.
In an audio message, a health official in Dadu appealed to the government for help and said that the doctors and hospitals in the province should help them and play their role in handling the present situation.
Addressing the doctors, the official said that there was a severe shortage of medical facilities in Dadu and it was difficult for them to provide medical facilities to such a large number of patients so other doctors should also come forward to reduce the burden.
On the other hand, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi in a Twitter message expressed concern over the situation in the districts and said, “Corona is spreading rapidly in Dadu and Sehwan, Sindh government should take steps on war footing to ensure the supply of oxygen to the hospitals. He said, “Consider appropriate lockdown. May Allah protects us all,” the minister added.
Hearing very disturbing news from Interior Sindh especially Dadu & Sehwan!#COVID cases rising fast.
I hope Sindh Govt is prepared as they might have to set up camp hospitals on war footings with ample supply of oxygen.
Consider appropriate lock down.
May Allah protect us all 🤲— Ali Haider Zaidi (@AliHZaidiPTI) May 12, 2021
While urging the public to adopt COVID SOPs, Sindh health officials warning that last year Eid violations led to a 30 percent increase in virus cases.
In the first week of Ramadan, the positivity ratio in the province stood at 4.71 percent with 23 deaths, followed by 6.31 percent positivity and 43 deaths in the second week, 6.96 percent positivity and 62 deaths in the third week while the fourth week reported 7.08 percent cases and 64 deaths.
