SEHWAN: As the number of coronavirus cases in Sindh reached 16, the provincial government on Saturday announced to close the shrine of renowned sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan for three weeks.
The Auqaf chief administrator said the shrine has been closed as a precaution to curb the virus outbreak. Jamshoro deputy commissioner issued a notification announcing the closure of wedding halls across the district as a precautionary measure.
This comes after the Sindh government closed all wedding halls, shrines and cinemas across the province for three weeks. The decision was made in a meeting of the Sindh Task Force on coronavirus chaired by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
The novel virus has been spreading across the country as two new cases were reported on Saturday. According to the health authorities, the first was reported in Islamabad, while the second case was detected in Sindh.
The total number of cases reached 16 in Sindh and overall tally in Pakistan has climbed to thirty. The Sindh government has already shut down all educational institutes across the province till May 31.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) announced to shut down three recreational spots as part of precautionary measures to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.
The Karachi Zoological Garden, Landhi Zoo, and the Safari Park will remain closed until the threat from the outbreak does not subside.
