KARACHI: Pakistan’s count of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases ascended to 1601 on Monday after more cases were reported from different parts of the country.
The number of novel coronavirus cases jumped to 1601 with 593 cases in Punjab, 502 cases in Sindh, 141 cases in Balochistan, 192 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 43 cases in Islamabad, 124 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan and six cases in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Health authorities confirmed another two deaths due to coronavirus in Punjab’s Rahim Yar Khan and Gilgit Baltistan taking the death toll to 17 in the country. This is the sixth causality due in Punjab while there are 593 confirmed patients being treated in different cities of the province. Gilgit Baltistan reported the second death of coronavirus patients in the region.

Citing the details of city-wise break down of the case, CM Punjab wrote on his twitter account, “Quarantines (DGK, Multan, LHR, FSD) 318, Lahore 116, Gujrat 55, Gujranwala 11, Jhelum 28, Rawalpindi 30, Multan 2, Faisalabad 9, MBD 4, Narowal 1, RYK 2, Vehari 2, Sargodha 2, Attock 1, Bahawalnagar 1, Mianwali 2, Nankana Sahib 2, Khushab 1, Bahawalpur 1 & DG Khan 5”.
National Command and Control Authority said five patients are in critical condition, while 28 patients have recuperated from the illness. More than 34,000 deaths have been recorded internationally, of which most have been in Europe since the disease first emerged in December 2019. More than 722,000 coronavirus cases have been registered in 200 countries and territories.
