KARACHI: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 16,473 in Pakistan on Friday as 714 new cases reported within 24 hours.
The National Command and Control Center has issued the latest statistics, confirming that 24 lives were lost to COVID-19, taking the total number of deaths to 385.
The number of patients swelled to 6,340 in Punjab, the most affected region in Pakistan. A partial lockdown has been imposed across the province to stem the spread of the infection.
The cases of infection have surged to 6,053 in Sindh. As many as 269 people have recovered from the infection. In Balochistan, there are 1,049 confirmed cases while 176 patients have recuperated from the infection so far.
The confirmed cases have surged to 2,313 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The province has started easing lockdown restriction as it has allowed some industries to resume operations.
There are 339 coronavirus cases in Gilgit-Baltistan. Total of 66 cases reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir while 313 were reported in Islamabad.
The total number of fatalities due to the deadly virus stands at 146 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 106 in Punjab, 112 in Sindh, 14 in Balochistan, 03 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 04 in Islamabad. According to details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while 79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.
The country has conducted overall 174,160 coronavirus tests including today is 8,249.
