KARACHI: The number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Pakistan has risen to 4,206 on Thursday after new cases were reported in the country.
According to provided details given by Sindh health officials , 2,166 coronavirus cases were registered in Punjab, 1036 in Sindh, 527 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 206 in Balochistan, 213 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 83 in Islamabad and 28 in Azad Kashmir.
As many as 61 people have died of COVID-19 since its outbreak in the country, which includes 20 in Sindh, 15 in Punjab, 18 in KP, Balochistan 02, and 03 in Gilgit-Baltistan. Meanwhile, 445 people have recovered.
The authorities have also increased the testing facilities and a total of 35,875 tests have so far been conducted. Isolation facilities have been set up in 462 hospitals in different areas of the country.
The worldwide number of officially confirmed fatalities from the novel coronavirus now stands at above 81,000.
More than 1 million declared cases have been registered in 213 countries and territories since the epidemic first emerged in China in December. Of these cases, at least 253,000 are now considered recovered.
